Rolled Gold - Archetype Beats, Vol. 3

Image
Following the first two offerings from Rolled Gold ’s “Archetype Beats” series, “Vol. 3” returns with an even more colorful collection of beats, taking the listener on a psychedelic journey through nature. While most of the beats were created in a few weeks at the end of 2020, they were all selected and structured to match the vibes and emotions gathered from the artwork, which is taken from a surrealistic painting of Center City Philadelphia by Richard Metz . This release (and the full series) is perfect for fans of Madlib , Roc Marciano & Pete Rock . Archetype Beats, Vol. 3 by Rolled Gold

The series as a whole will consist of 4 short volumes, and will play out smoothly as one full length album when it’s concluded. The cover art is from a painting by Richard Metz ( @thembones2 on IG) and the only featured musicians are Gabriel Andin o on tenor sax & Richard Metz on flute. Rolled Gold - Down Thataways

Image
“Down Thataways” is Rolled Gold ’s first completely instrumental project as a sample-composer/beat-maker hybrid, and much like the previous “A Different Cloth” series, it smoothly transitions between classic hip hop, trap beats, R&B grooves and “lofi” loops. Source: Rolled Gold

Rolled Gold - A Different Cloth, Vol. 3

Rolled Gold ’s “A Different Cloth” beat-tape/remix-tape hybrid series of 2019 concludes with the third volume, an EP equally as groovy, cinematic and versatile as the previous two. Each song contains only samples from Rolled’s original compositions & recordings, garnished with chopped & screwed vocal remixes of a few rappers & singers he works with. While all 3 volumes stand alone perfectly as EPs, they also play in succession smoothly & create a full-length sonic journey. Rolled Gold - A Different Cloth, Vol. 1

“A Different Cloth, Vol. 1” is the first in a series of short beat tapes, aimed at gradually, yet consistently unravelling Rolled Gold ’s recent catalog of original composition-based production. Each beat is made by sampling his own compositions, engineered and performed by himself and a select few friends and family members. Decorated with short, chopped & screwed cuts from songs Rolled has produced and/or engineered with his vocalist associates, he illustrates a journey with field recordings and smooth, psychedelic transitions.  Stream/Purchase below!!! Rolled Gold - Triple Truth Ruth, Vol. 1

Image
Rolled Gold ’s “Triple Truth Ruth” is a series of mini instrumental EP’s (3P’s, if you will) in which he has sampled the same song three times to create completely different beats. The title is derived from Samuel L. Jackson ’s role as DJ “Señor Love Daddy” in Spike Lee ’s iconic 1989 film "Do The Right Thing" , which proves to be just as relevant in today’s racially unjust and violent climate as it did when it was created, and of course long before. The beats Rolled Gold has created use soul samples to provide a hip hop sound ranging from 90’s “boom bap” to modern “trap” sounds. ***Thanks to Rolled Gold for sending***
